FIFA World Cup 2022 Day 2 Highlights: England beat Iran 6-2, Netherlands down Senegal, Wales-USA play out 1-1 draw

FIFA World Cup 2022 Day 2 Highlights: USA tore Wales apart with a 1-0 lead and look to have taken all three points, but after 82 minutes, Gareth Bale converted from the spot and managed to rescue a point. Earlier on in the match, Timothy Weah took advantage of some slack defending with his individual effort to give the USA side an early advantage. A young and aggressive USA team outplayed a Wales side that looked ragged as they failed to get a foothold into the game. After a smart pass by Christian Pulisic, Weah slid it past an advancing goalkeeper to put his team one up and hand them a deserved victory.

Netherlands had their backs against the wall, trailing Senegal 1-0 in the 85th minute. Rising star Cody Gakpo seems to have come out of nowhere around the 18-yard box and headed past goalkeeper Mouhamed Mendy for the equalizer. De Jong laid off to him, and then with nobody looking, Gakpo took off down the other side and drew an oncoming run from Davy Klaassen into a brilliant cross that resulted in an easy goal for Klaassen. It was all too little too late for Senegal as it was drawing 1-1 at full time.

England flew out of the gate in their first World Cup group match against Iran, taking a 3-0 lead at halftime. Jude Bellingham nailed one while Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling got on the board as England dominated the Iranian defense early on. In the second half, Sak completed his brace while Manchester boys Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish made instant impacts, scoring two late goals to seal Iran’s fate.
